ECHOES OF THE ENCORE – WEEZER

Weezer was my favorite band from the ’90s, and I always dreamed of seeing them live in Brazil. When they finally came, it was in Curitiba. A friend of mine was photographing the concert for a newspaper and offered me a place to stay. I took a bus there and coincidentally met another friend from São Paulo upon arrival. We were a bit lost and started walking to find a bus stop when a guy approached, complimented my friend’s shoes, and insisted on shining them. Despite saying no, my friend ended up paying more than expected after some arguing. Anyway, the concert was amazing and remains one of my favorites.

Weezer era minha banda favorita dos anos 90, e eu sempre sonhei em vê-los ao vivo no Brasil. Quando finalmente vieram, foi em Curitiba. Um amigo meu estava fotografando o show para um jornal e me ofereceu um lugar para ficar. Peguei um ônibus até lá e, coincidentemente, encontrei outro amigo de São Paulo assim que cheguei. Estávamos um pouco perdidos e começamos a andar para procurar um ponto de ônibus, quando um cara se aproximou, elogiou o tênis do meu amigo e insistiu em engraxá-lo. Mesmo dizendo que não, meu amigo acabou pagando mais do que esperava depois de alguma discussão.
De qualquer forma, o show foi incrível e continua sendo um dos meus favoritos.
